Few people know that illustrating a children’s book has always been my dream. Even when I was a little girl the walls of my house became my own gallery, covered with my paper sketches of cute monsters and characters.
It was such a wonderful coincidence when I visited my friend Sanni in Rovaniemi. She told me that Minna was planning to make a children’s book and she was even looking for an illustrator. I didn’t hesitate to propose myself for the work. When I read the story I absolutely fell in love with project.
Inspired by the memories and photographs of my last trip to beautiful Lapland, (coincidentally sponsored by Minna and Sanni) I had in mind exactly what I wanted to present to them in order to be chosen. Thankfully they liked my illustrations and happily I am now part of the team.
I hope from my own point of view as a foreigner, I can show through my work even a bit of the breathtaking beauty of Finnish nature and the richness of its culture. I owe it to the land that has adopted me whole-heartedly in the last four years.
